Yes the jungle can be a dangerous place.  A huge collection of venomous creatures, disease carrying insects, rapidly flooding rivers, tree falls, the heat and humidity…… in fact it seems at times that everything there doesn’t want you to go home, natures way of saying “This beautiful secret stays here with us, don’t go spreading it around!”.

Can you see the snake in the picture below?

A jumping viper

I have had malaria, 2 maggots living under my skin eating me, a long worm under the surface of the skin, nearly lost my left eye to a spiting cobra and had more cases of dysentery than I care to count.  I hope your trips to the tropics are somewhat less eventful.

Below is a bot fly maggot that lived in me until I decided to squeeze it out!

POST EDITED

After writing the above post I got a family member to check all is well with the information, layout and images.  But, he said he couldn’t see what was in one of the photos (the snake one) and that I should make the image clearer.

I have done this, as you can see below, I have also banned him from any travel to the tropics unless his footwear is made of steel!
